The land registry and surveying department at the Hochsauerland district is working under high pressure. It is in the process of digitising the German base map. The base map and the exiting analogue maps and air photographs are being transferred to the colibri as scanned Tiff files with the vectorised land register map.
The vectorised land register provides data on the actual usage of the land and building. The information on the German base map and the air photographs must also be vectorised to allow the data to be compared in the field and corrected or added where necessary. This process updates the ALK (general land register).
With the best reflective displays in the world and the high graphic resolution the colibri pen computer provides the required support with the process of conversion of the German base map:
"Apart from the unique display we like the simple and user-friendly pen-based operation and the robust build of the colibri. These properties make it easy to work in any weather", says Dipl.-Ing. Peter Rummel, contact person for field surveys with the district administration. "The ALK can be almost completed in the field". After the field phase data sets are sent for further processing. This provides outstanding support for completion of the conversion of the German base map by 2012.
As a result of the high degree of satisfaction of the field surveyors with the colibri pen computer it will also be used in future projects in the Hochsauerland district, such as continuing surveys.
